Wheat Genetic and Phenotypic Database

Data Overview

Based on large-scale root transcriptome analysis, our group obtained genotypic data from 406 globally diverse wheat germplasms, combined with phenotypic data (including quality and root traits) of 25 traits across 12 environments, and integrated meteorological data to build the freely downloadable wheat multi-omics database.

406 Wheat Accession Population

Population Description

This database contains 406 wheat germplasm resources with rich genetic diversity, including 87 landraces (LA), 259 modern cultivars (MC), and 60 advanced breeding lines (BL). Among the 259 modern cultivars, 128 materials are from the Yellow and Huai wheat zone (Y&H), 29 materials are from the Yangtze River wheat zone (YTS), 50 materials are from other wheat zones in China (OTW), and 52 materials are introduced abroad modern cultivars (IC).

Genotypic and Expression Data

In collaboration with Wuhan Frasergen Company, large-scale RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and assembly were performed on the seedling roots of 406 wheat accessions, leading to the identification of a total of 1,232,311 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (Figure 2). Evaluation using the wheat 660K SNP microarray showed that the accuracy of the identified SNPs was >99%, and approximately half (48.43%) of these SNPs were located in the coding DNA sequence (CDS) region. The gene expression data included the expression levels (in transcripts per million, TPM) of both high-confidence and low-confidence genes. This dataset identified 39,243 LC genes in wheat roots

Root Phenotypic Data

Root Traits Description

Includes root morphological and architectural traits measured at 14 days after germination (DAG) using image analysis. Traits include total root length, root surface area, root volume, average root diameter, and fresh root weight.
